Demeko Duckworth
NASHVILLE, Tenn.- Jury selection began Monday for the trial against a Nashville man charged with murdering a woman and her cousin.
Demeko Duckworth was accused of murdering his girlfriend, Asia Wade, and her cousin,Clarence Goins, back in July 2010 an act which landed him on the Tennessee Bureau of Investigations' most wanted list. Police said Wade was found stabbed to death on July 20, 2010 in her Elizabeth Road home.
Wade's cousin, 28-year old Clarence Goins was shot in the head just the day before on Hillside Avenue.
Duckworth has a criminal history that dates back to 1997 and includes numerous drug charges, theft, aggravated robbery as well as rape and kidnapping. He also has an outstanding warrant for violating his parole in Arkansas.
Just this past November, prison guards said Duckworth tried to kill another inmate. It happened at the Criminal Justice Center in Nashville. Police said Duckworth pulled a knife on Joedon Bradley and cut him twice on the head.
