Angela Crane Jones and her son, Donovan
NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The March of Dimes is kicking off its fundraising efforts.
Hundreds of people were at Baptist Hospital Thursday to take part in the March for Babies kick-off.
The March for Babies brings together families, companies and volunteers to make sure children are born healthy and happy.
The March of Dimes provides resources to help preemies grow up strong.
"Our goal this year is to raise $10,000 for March of Dimes. We know without March of Dimes we wouldn't be here or be healthy as he is today," said mother Angela Crane Jones.
Her son, Donovan, weighed just 1pound, 7 ounces when he was born 29 months ago. Donovan stayed in the Baptist Hospital NICU for 3 months before being able to go home. But now, two years later, he is healthy, thanks to March of Dimes.
With chapters nationwide and its premier event, March for Babies, the March of Dimes works to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth and infant mortality. For the latest resources and information, visit marchofdimes.com or nacersano.org.
