CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – A man was charged with child abuse after a two-year-old he was watching had to be taken to the hospital.

Police charged Keith Hunter, 19, with child abuse. Police said a 24-year-old woman took her two-year-old to the hospital for treatment for a possible allergic reaction. During treatment, bruising and burns were found on the child. Police said the injuries were consistent with a slap or other disciplinary measures.

Police said the woman had left her child in the care of Hunter, who is a friend and had been living with the mother and child since the end of December.

Hunter was booked into Montgomery County Jail and held on $50,000 bond.
