NASHVILLE, Tenn.- Tax Agency Mo' Money Taxes has continued to cause problems for its customers. While doors remained closed at one Nashville location, customers were lined up looking for answers.
On Monday, customers of Mo' Money Taxes were doing something many of them have done for months: wait. Many filed their taxes with the agency weeks, or months ago, and have yet to see their tax returns.
Customers said instead of getting their tax returns as promised they have been getting excuses.
"Every time I come here they say, 'What did the IRS say? Well it's not here yet, we'll give you a call. Well let me email my boss and find out'," said customer Kiquina Bailey.
Kiquina Bailey said she's used the company in the past, but this year has been a horrifying experience as she was planning to pay the taxes on her home with some of her tax return.
"They took my money. $7,781 is gone. On top of that I have two kids," she said.
When NewsChannel5 spoke with Gallatin Pike Mo' Money Taxes manager, Toney Fields, last week he claimed he was working hard to get his customers their returns on time.
"They know I haven't stolen the money or I'd be gone already. I'm here every day, answering phones and trying to take care of problems that might be going on," said Fields.
Many customers said excuses, locked doors and unreturned phone calls have led them to believe that they might have lost all their money.
Officials said that if the store is closed for good, there is little that can be done to help customers, aside from filing a law suit. The IRS, however, does have a procedure for taxpayers to file a formal complaint against a tax preparer if they feel it's warranted.
NewsChannel5 spoke to an employee at the Antioch Mo' Money taxes location who said that the manager's wife is expecting a baby and that's why this location is closed. The Jefferson Street Mo'Money Taxes location was also closed on Monday, but an explanation was not given.
