FORT CAMPBELL, Ky. (AP) -- A court martial has been set for May 2 for a Fort Campbell soldier charged with killing his estranged wife and another woman.
The proceedings had been scheduled for earlier this month, but Sgt. Brent Burke's lawyers asked for a postponement.
Burke is charged with violating the Uniform Code of Military Justice in the deaths of Tracy Burke and her former mother-in-law, Karen Comer, at a home in Rineyville in September 2007.
The Army charged Burke in the shootings after civilian authorities in Hardin County dismissed charges against him due to four mistrials. Burke is a defendant in a wrongful death lawsuit brought by Tracy Burke's family.
He is being held in a civilian jail.
