NASHVILLE, Tenn.- Metro Detectives arrested three people on Thursday, all believed to be involved in a counterfeit check writing scheme.
Officials found over $11,000 in cash as well as various checks and bank paper work inside a hotel room at the Knights Inn on Spring Street. Police said 31-year-old- Lauren Peluso, who was in the room at the time, had a plane ticket to fly from Nashville to Raleigh, North Carolina. They believe her only reason for coming to Nashville was to cash the fraudulent checks.
Peluso, as well as the two men with her Scott Conklin, 51, and Lane Schau, 25 were all charged with identity theft.
Police turned Peluso over to Federal custody on outstanding indictments in North Carolina. Both Conklin and Schau were taken to the Davidson County Jail, where they were held on $35,000 bond each.
