CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Police believe that a body found in a burnt out SUV in Clarksville is a man who had been missing for three weeks.
Police discovered the body inside a Chevy Suburban on Thursday night in a field off McAdoo Creek. It is believed to be Brandon Rushing, who was reported missing on January 24.
Police believe he was shot in the head inside a Clarksville apartment the day before.
Police have arrested 28-year-old Verchaunt Joshua Williams and charged him with criminal homicde. Police said cell phone records showed Williams and rushing had talked prior to the shooting. Rushing was last known to be driving a 2006 Chevy Suburban.
Police also charged 22-year-old Ojawaine Joemese Marbury and 25-year-old Jeffery Mac Jackson with accessory after the fact. Police said during interviews, they admitted to helping Williams dispose of Rushing's body and vehicle in the area.
Police said Williams, Marbury, Jackson, and Rushing have all known each other for several years.
Police said the body from the vehicle was taken to the Medical Examiner for an autopsy and to verify the identity.
A motive for the murder is still under investigation.
Williams was held without bond. Marbury and Jackson were held on $1 million bond.
