Woman Charged In Child's Death Extradited From Oregon

Posted: Updated:

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. - A mid-state woman arrested last week in Oregon has been brought back to Tennessee to be charged in the 2009 death of her son.

Caitlyn Metz was booked into the Montgomery County Jail on Thursday. She was charged with two counts of first degree felony murder along with two counts of aggravated child abuse and one count of aggravated rape of a child.

Her husband, Joshua Starner, had already been charged with aggravated child abuse, aggravated rape of a child and felony murder but was re-indicted in February with two counts of aggravated child abuse and felony murder added.

In 2009, Metz had told police she left her 2-year-old son, Keegan, with Starner while she went to the store, and when she came back, the child was unresponsive.

But prosecutors said medical evidence has led them to believe she may be responsible as well.

She was held on $100,000 bond. Starner remains jailed on $1.45 million bond.
