HOPKINSVILLE, Ky. (AP) -- A center to help homeless veterans has opened near Fort Campbell.
Pennyroyal Veterans Center coordinator Howard Dixon told the Kentucky New Era that the goal is to aid veterans "from homelessness to self-sufficiency." The center's opening in
Hopkinsville on Monday was attended by more than 150 people. The facility has 25 rooms which can each house two men in addition to a kitchen and dining room, a laundry facility, a common room and several other features. The center also touts a "homey" feel.
Army veteran Chico Rodriguez, who attended the opening, said the facility is one of many projects in the area that he hopes will help veterans.
