Fire Damages Train In Cheatham County

PEGRAM, Tenn. - A fire on a train nearly caused a local neighborhood to be evacuated in Cheatham County.

The engine on this CSX train caught fire around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday near Highway 70 at Thompson Road near Pegram.

Firefighters with the Pegram Volunteer Fire Department got there quickly and were able to put the fire out with dry chemicals.

An evacuation plan was in place for surrounding homes, but no hazardous materials were on the train, and no one had to leave their homes.

No one was hurt.

The train is expected to be repaired.
