MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – A neighbor witnessed a lightning strike start a fire that destroyed a home in Murfreesboro on Wednesday morning.
It happened around 7:30 a.m. at a home on Katelyn Court, off Joben Drive. When crews got on the scene, there were heavy smoke and flames visible.
A neighbor called 911 to report the lightning strike that started the fire.
No one was home at the time of the fire, and it's possible that the homeowners were on vacation. Fire officials were trying to contact them.
The house was a total loss.
