Severe Weather Possible, Wind Advisory For Thursday

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Severe weather is possible in Middle Tennessee on Thursday evening with warm weather and strong winds in the forecast.

NewsChannel 5 meteorologist Lelan Statom said the best chances are later in the day and into the evening. Wind and hail may be the primary threat, but isolated tornadoes are possible.

The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory is also in effect from noon until midnight for most of the mid-state. Winds could reach 20 to 30 miles per hour, with gusts up to 40 miles per hour.

Anyone driving high-profile vehicles, such as semis or SUVs, should take extra caution while driving in windy conditions. Residents should also secure loose items on patios and decks. Trees may be blow down due to recent rains and strong winds.

The temperatures will drop on Friday and into the weekend.
