Soldier Killed; Boyfriend Charged with Her Murder

Posted: Updated:

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn.- A Fort Campbell soldier has been gunned down after running for her own life in Clarksville.

Investigators say 23-year-old Shardae Wright, a Fort Campbell soldier, was discovered shot to death in the bathtub of her apartment on Nolen Rd. Her boyfriend, Nicholas Durant, also a soldier, is charged with her murder.

He fled to North Carolina after the shooting and was arrested by troopers there. He's awaiting extradition back to Clarksville.

Witnesses told police early Saturday morning that Wright came to their apartment looking for help. Durant followed her, and allegedly pointed a gun at her. The witness says when they ran to get help, they heard several gunshots. Friends of Durant have come forward to say he admitted to shooting her.

Durant is scheduled to go before a judge in North Carolina Monday. He could then be extradited back to Tennessee.
