KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - The inbound lanes of a major commuter route into Knoxville are blocked because of a rock slide.
Rocks tumbled onto the Alcoa Highway early Wednesday, according to WVLT-TV. Northbound traffic was being diverted onto John Sevier Highway to get around the slide, which occurred near the Marine center.
A truck ran into the rocks and the driver was taken to a hospital.
The northbound lanes remain closed while transportation officials determine whether a rock wall is stable. The highway is also known as U.S. 129.
