MURFREESBORO, Tenn.- A
local church congregation is dealing with some troubling news now that there's
word a former youth minister is charged with inappropriate contact with a young
boy.
Jacqueline Taylor is much
older than the boy. She was arrested back in February, for allegedly taking the
relationship too far. Jacqueline Taylor parted ways with her church in Antioch,
and she was in court just this past Wednesday.
The Rutherford County Sheriff's
Department says 36-year-old Jacqueline Taylor met her young victim through
church. They both live in Murfreesboro.
"She was the youth
minister at this youth's church. And she apparently picked him up and took him parking
at vacant houses in the Old Nashville Highway community in January on several
occasions," explained Rutherford County Sheriff's Department spokesperson,
Lisa Marchesoni.
Sheriff's investigators
say it was the young boy who leaked the news.
"The boy told his
parents, and they filed a complaint, and we began the investigation," said
Marchesoni.
Lisa Marchesoni says the
charge of Sexual Battery by an Authority Figure is serious, and this case is disappointing
given the religious nature of their relationship initially. Sheriff's detectives are not sure at what
point Jacqueline Taylor parted ways with the Antioch church, and they aren't
even certain of which church employed her.
Taylor was in court this
past Wednesday. She has asked for a public defender.
