NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - The Vanderbilt Commodores will have a quick turnaround after arriving in Music City with their Southeastern Conference tournament championship trophy.
The Commodores (24-10) have been seeded fifth in the East Region and will play No. 12 seed Harvard on Thursday in Albuquerque, N.M. Vanderbilt is making its third straight NCAA tournament appearance and fifth in the last six years.
The challenge now for Vanderbilt will be winning. The Commodores have lost three straight first-round games starting with Siena in 2008, Murray State in 2010 and Richmond in 2011.
The Commodores watched the bracket announcement at a New Orleans hotel before heading to catch a plane back to Nashville, where they arrived at Memorial Gymnasium on Sunday night to hundreds of screaming fans.
The Crimson (26-4) will make their first trip to the tournament since 1946.
Harvard won its first-ever outright Ivy League title. Last year, the Crimson shared the conference crown with Princeton and lost to the Tigers in a one-game tiebreaker for the right to the Ivy NCAA berth.
The winner of the first-round will play the winner of the first-round matchup of Marquette and Wisconsin.
