KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Tennessee is a No. 1 seed in the National Invitational Tournament and will host eighth-seeded Savannah State in the first round.
The Volunteers (18-14), who have played in the NCAA tournament the past six seasons, finished second in the Southeastern Conference but were upset by Mississippi in the quarterfinals of the conference tournament on Friday.
The Tigers (21-11) were the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference regular-season champions and won 13 games in a row to end the regular season.
The winner of the game it will face either No. 4 seed Middle Tennessee or No. 5 seed Marshall, which will play in Murfreesboro on Tuesday night.
