'One With Courage' Campaign Hopes To End Child Sexual Abuse

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Tennessee Children's Advocacy Center is working to raise awareness of child sexual abuse and encourage residents of the Volunteer State to speak up with they suspect a child is in danger.

They have launched a new campaign, called "One with Courage," and have asked adults to learn to recognize the signs and symptoms of child sexual abuse, and to have the courage to speak up about suspected abuse.

By showing their willingness to talk about the issue, the TNCAC hopes abused children develop the courage to speak up.

According to the center, one in four girls and one in six boys will be sexually abused before the age of 18. They say nine of ten children will not report the abuse.

The statewide initiative involves all 47 Children's Advocacy Centers in the state, and works to bring the community together with parents, law enforcement, educators, and religious leaders to stop abuse.
