GOODLETTSVILLE, Tenn. - One person has been killed and two others critically injured in Sumner County after what police described as a crash caused by road rage.

The crash happened around 5:15 p.m. Friday on Springfield Highway and Williamson Road in Goodlettsville.

Officials said two pickup trucks were driving aggressively in the southbound lanes of Springfield Highway. At some point the trucks made contact, sending one truck into the oncoming traffic of the northbound lanes.

The truck then hit an SUV and a car.

A 41-year-old female passenger in one of the trucks was killed. Her 45-year-old husband was critically injured and transported to an area hospital. Their identities were not released.

Police also said the 28-year-old driver of the SUV was also seriously hurt, although the extent of the injuries was not available. The driver of the car suffered only minor injuries.

Northbound lanes were blocked as police investigated the crash. One southbound lane remained open to traffic until crews cleared the scene.

It was not clear if any of the drivers faced charges.
