Pet Owners Take Advantage of Rabies Clinics

Posted: Updated:

NASHVILLE, Tenn.- Rabies is still a major threat to Tennessee pets. That danger is the main reason vaccinations for cats and dogs are mandatory in Tennessee.

To make it easier on pet owners, each year the Metro Health Department teams up with veterinarians for a month of discounted rabies clinics. Each Saturday this month from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m., people could take their pets to one of dozens of clinics and get the shot for just $10.00. The vets say it's good for the pets, good for the family, and at times, it can even be fun.

"The animals have been well behaved. The owners have been well behaved. Nobody's been bitten, nobody's been hurt.  We haven't lost any animals up the tree, which we've done in the past, so it's been a good day," said Dr. Kitty Parker, Nashboro Animal Hospital.

There's only one Saturday clinic left in the month.

Here are the locations of the rabies clinic on March 31,2012. Clinic hours are from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
