BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (AP) - One hundred students from across Kentucky will gather in Bowling Green on Friday to show off their geography skills and try to earn a trip to Washington for the National Geographic Bee in May.
The Kentucky competition is being held at Western Kentucky University. The winner will receive $100 in addition to the trip to Washington.
The national competition will include 53 students and is set for May 22 through 24. The final round is being moderated by "Jeopardy" host Alex Trebek, and first prize is a $25,000 college scholarship.
The students competing are in fourth through eighth grades.
