NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Country music legend George Jones has been admitted to a Nashville hospital after suffering from a reported upper respiratory infection.
Jones's publicist said that the infection was not pneumonia and that the singer would be kept overnight for observation.
The hospitalization comes just days after 80-year-old Jones canceled a performance in Peoria, Illinois set for June 23.
Officials said Jones had been suffering from a heavy chest cold and would be unable to prepare for the performance.
