Ky. Gov. Beshear, Family To Attend NCAA Final Four

Posted: Updated:

FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) - Kentucky Governor Steve Beshear and his family will be flying to New Orleans this weekend for the NCAA basketball tournament's Final Four games, including a match-up Saturday night between the University of Kentucky and the University of Louisville.

It's the first time since 1991 that one state will send two teams to the Final Four.

Beshear will use a state aircraft to fly to New Orleans and will reimburse the state for the expense.

Lt. Gov. Jerry Abramson is also going, but will fly separately on a University of Louisville charter plane. His travel will not be charged to the state.

The governor and his family are allowed to use state aircraft for personal use. Beshear has mandated that any non-governmental travel using the aircraft must be repaid to the state.
