Sesame Street Introduces New Muppet at Fort Campbell

Posted: Updated:

NASHVILLE, Tenn.- Sunday, a portion of Fort Campbell was transformed into Sesame Street.

Elmo, Grover, and Cookie Monster made a visit to post for a very special event introducing a new  character who is familiar with military life. Katie is a military kid who lives on a base, but finds out she's moving and has to leave all her friend behinds. The USO is putting on this show with a message.

"To make a military Muppet kind of personalizes it for them because it's a little girl that's going through the same exact things that they have to deal with in their own lives," said Tom Zaizer.

The show will be visiting bases and posts across America for the next eight months. The tour is scheduled to roll onto more than 65 military installations across the country and perform more than 235 high-energy shows before concluding in November 2012.
