Kitchen Fire Destroys East Nashville Home

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Two young children were able to escape safely from a kitchen fire in East Nashville.

The fire started at a home in the 2700 block of Old Matthews Road on Monday around 3 p.m.

Police said that a woman was cooking in the kitchen when a fire began and she was unable to get it under control. The woman and her two young children were able to escape the house with the help of a neighbor.

They reported hearing an explosion after escaping the home.

Officials said the home was destroyed by the fire.

No one was injured.
