EAST RIDGE, Tenn. (AP) - A 14-year-old runaway from South Carolina is being held by Tennessee authorities after police were shot at and a police cruiser was rammed during a chase.

Police spokesman Erik Hopkins in East Ridge said police from that city were alerted Monday night that Georgia officers were chasing a vehicle north on Interstate 75 after an officer-involved shooting at a Tunnel Hill, Ga., convenience store.

The youth's name wasn't released. He is accused of firing at officers during the pursuit and ramming a Catoosa County deputy's car.

East Ridge Police used spike strips to the tires of the suspect's car. The youth tried to run away, but was captured after a short foot chase.

He is held on charges of aggravated assault and felony evading arrest.
