Ex-President Of Middle Tennessee State University Dies

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (AP) - Melvin G. Scarlett, president of Middle Tennessee State University from 1969 to 1978, has died. He was 91.

The university said in a news release Tuesday that Scarlett died Monday.

Funeral services will be Thursday at Woodfin Funeral Chapel in Murfreesboro. Survivors include his wife, two sons and a daughter.
