Sky 5 reporter and cameraman David Park arrived in Nashville in a rather uncommon way - he was born here. Valedictorian of his class at Pioneer Christian Academy, he went on to study electrical engineering at Vanderbilt and finance at Belmont.
That's about the time he began performing standup comedy, and he used his skills as a comedy writer to make his first foray into the media as a writer and producer for the legendary Coyote McCloud on the Y107 "Zoo Crew." Remember "Deacon Dave the Breakfast Slave?" That's our guy...and he always wrote the clean stuff.
David went from Y107 to being heard on many other radio stations in Nashville as a traffic reporter, producer, and assistant director of operations for Metro Networks, where he won the Achievement In Radio award for Best Traffic Reporter two years in a row. That's also where he did afternoon traffic reports for NewsChannel 5. Then in 2009 - he took over the reporter duties in Sky5.
When his feet are back on the ground, David enjoys racquetball, reading, and using the financial licenses he's earned to help middle Tennessee families with their money issues. Not to mention, he's a certified kettlebell instructor--you'd better Google that one.
The next time you're in China, say hi to his brother (John), sister-in-law (Rebecca), three nieces (Hannah, Sarah, & Rachel), and brand new nephew (Andrew).
Next time you're in Franklin, say hi to David. He waved at you from Sky 5. Hope you noticed!
