McGavock Renames Academy After Donations From CMT

Posted: Updated:

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - A local high school's broadcast journalism program has been renamed after their new partnership with Country Music Television.

Nashville Mayor Karl Dean joined CMT and school officials at a ribbon cutting and naming ceremony for the new academy at McGavock High School.

McGavock students will learn about the world of broadcasting in the new CMT Academy of Digital Design and Communications.

"This is as a result of CMT partnering with a specific academy and bringing in the expertise of the people who work day to day at CMT and teaching the students real life based instruction," said Lucia Folk from CMT.

The Academy's new name honors CMT's donations to the school.

This latest addition makes the third academy at McGavock High and the fifth academy for the entire district.

The Academies of Nashville are smaller learning communities in each zoned high school in Metro Nashville Public Schools.
