JOHNSON CITY, Tenn .-- An early morning shooting involving an East Tennessee State University at an off-campus apartment has led to increased security on campus.
Johnson City Police are still investigating what led up to the shooting, but they reveal 20 rounds were fired Saturday morning at an apartment complex. Medics took two people to the hospital with minor injuries. One victim's head was grazed by a bullet.
"Campus Ridge is an off-campus residential area. It is not part of ETSU campus, but it is in close vicinity of the campus. There was a shooting, and because it happened so close to campus we have decided to increase security," said Joe Smith with ETSU Public Relations.
ETSU is now checking ID's before students can go into a campus building.
