NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Detectives from Metro's north police precinct are
searching for two masked gunmen who robbed and shot up a Saturday night
birthday party, killing the woman hosting it.
"Cocoa was a wonderful, outgoing person," said Kaye Dawkins a
friend of the victim.
"She would break her back for anybody. This senseless crime that they
did to her, to take her away from her kids, it's just crazy," Dawkins
added.
The victim is Lashunda Brown, 32, of Spears Road in North Nashville. Friends
and family called her "Cocoa."
"Three others were also shot," said Kristin Mumford a Metro Police
spokesperson. "They're all adults, all in their twenties: two men,
one woman."
Police say the two armed bandits burst into a late-night Saturday birthday
party being held inside Brown's garage, at the rear of her house, and demanded
money.
Police say a struggle developed between the two intruders and party guests
and shots were fired. Brown was hit once in the side and died, according to
family members, in her brother's arms.
