NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Two young men were rescued after falling off a bluff overlooking the Cumberland River in North Nashville overnight.
It happened around 12:15 a.m. off Youngs Lane, near FH Jenkins Elementary School.
Police responded to a home for a report that a group of people were being loud and having a party on the Cumberland River.
When officers arrived, they were notified that two people had fallen off the bluff about 30 to 40 feet.
One fell into the water but was not swept away. The other landed on the riverbank.
The man who landed on the riverbank was able to pull the other on the shore, where they remained until search and rescue crews with Nashville Fire were able to get to them.
The two were finally brought to shore at the Riverfront boat ramp.
Both were taken to Vanderbilt hospital with minor injuries.
Police said the other individuals in the group were cited for possession of drug paraphernalia on the scene.
No identities were released.
