Jose Elias Orellana
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A man was arrested on rape charges after allegedly sexually assaulting a woman after telling her he was a doctor from El Salvador.
Jose Elias Orellana, 65, was charged with two counts of rape. He was arrested at Las Americas Market on Nolensville Pike, where he worked with family members.
"I never thought that about, that he would do such a thing," said neighbor Luis Martinez.
Police said the 37-year-old victim went to see Orellana at his Antioch home for back pain in January after he helped her brother with a shoulder injury.
After massaging her back, he allegedly told her that he could assist with her menstrual problems, and then sexually assaulted her twice.
The woman reported it to police in late February, prompting an investigation.
Tuesday Orellana's grandson, Hugo Cruz, told NewsChannel 5 he doesn't believe the allegations are true. "It's pretty hard. I just don't think that he would do it," Cruz said.
Anyone who believes they may have been a victim of Orellana under the guise of medical care is asked to contact the police department's Sex Crimes Unit at 862-7540.
