NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A man has been taken into custody after a robbery in the West End area on Friday morning.
It happened just before 9:15 a.m. at First State Bank at 1720 West End Avenue.
Police said that 58-year-old William R. Green was arrested near 20th
Avenue North and Hayes Street a short time after the robbery.
According to police Green was also responsible for two other West
End bank robberies this month, one on April 11 at the Renasant Bank's 1820 West
End Avenue branch and the other at First State Bank's 1720 West End Avenue
branch.
In each robbery, Green gave a note to the teller demanding the
cash.
Police charged Green with attempted aggravated robbery. He was
being held lieu of $100,000 bond. Police said that Green had previous convictions
for drug possession and assault.
