NASHVILLE, Tenn.- At least
four families are homeless after fire tore through an East Nashville apartment
complex.
A number of 911 calls came
from people living at the Berkshire Apartments on Porter Road. When
firefighters got there, the fire was so intense; it had heated up the metal
hand rails leading to the second floor.
"The rails were so
hot on the way up that you couldn't even touch the rails. They were almost
glowing it was that hot for the guys. And we've got some heavy duty gloves when
you can feel heat through that you've got a lot of fire," said Captain
Ricky Taylor, Nashville Fire Department.
The fire did damage to at
least four units. However everyone was able to make it out unharmed.
