NASHVILLE, Tenn. – An additional $2,000 reward has been offered in the murder of a woman at a birthday party in north Nashville last weekend.

Metro Councilman Walter Hunt announced Monday that the 3rd District Security Fund would fund the reward in addition to that currently offered by Crime Stoppers.

LaShunda Brown, 32, was shot and killed at her home on Spears Road on April 21. Police said two masked men with guns rushed into the birthday party, being held for her 24-year-old brother who was visiting from Chicago, in Brown's garage and demanded money.

A struggle ensued, and shots were fired.

Metro police said they have recovered some things, which are helping them with this case.

"The suspects left on foot. In the next several days, we were out canvassing the area and did recover some evidence nearby. So we're hoping that someone who lives in the area may have seen something that night, or seen somebody walking through their yard or walking down the street," said Madison Precinct Commander Brian Johnson. "And if they haven't already contacted us, that's why we need that information-- is because we're trying to piece together the evidence we recovered nearby with the evidence from the crime scene."

Brown was hit, along with three others. Brown died on the scene, but the other three were not seriously hurt.

Police said it appears the gunmen had prior knowledge of the party and planned to rob the guests.

Anyone with information that can assist Madison Precinct detectives in identifying the person or persons who killed LaShunda Brown is urged to contact Crime Stoppers at 74-CRIME.
