FORT CAMPBELL, Ky. (AP) - Testimony has begun in the court martial of a Fort Campbell soldier charged with killing his estranged wife and another woman.

The Kentucky New Era and The News-Enterprise reported that police testified Wednesday about the gruesome scene in central Kentucky where officers found Tracy Burke and her former mother-in-law, Karen Comer, fatally shot after Burke's young children called emergency dispatchers.

Burke's estranged husband, Brent Burke, is facing murder and other charges in the 2007 slayings at Comer's home in Rineyville. He has pleaded not guilty.

The Army charged Burke in the shootings after civilian authorities in Hardin County dismissed charges against him due to four mistrials.

He was held in a civilian jail until the court martial.  If convicted, Burke could get life behind bars.
