Man Charged With Murder In Girlfriend's Death

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Detectives have arrested a man who allegedly strangled his girlfriend to death during a domestic dispute.

Jontay D. Johns, 29, was indicted on a charge of first degree murder in the death of 32-year-old Jennifer Fitts.

On January 13, Fitts' aunt went to check on her after not hearing from her for several days, and found her body inside her Lynmeade Court home.

Johns was already in jail since being arrested on March 12 on two counts of aggravated rape, one count of aggravated kidnapping and one count of aggravated assault for attacks during March on his 23-year-old girlfriend.

Johns was held in lieu of $600,000 bond.
