NASHVILLE, Tenn. - More major companies and their insurers are now suing the federal government over damages from the historic floods two years ago.
Gibson Guitar, Nissan North America, and Verizon Communications are seeking compensation in the third lawsuit to be filed this week.
The companies claim the National Weather Service and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers were negligent in operating Old Hickory Dam and issuing flood forecasts during the two-day rain event, making the damage worse that it would have with more advance warning.
The filings come just days after Gaylord Entertainment and other companies filed similar lawsuits.
