NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Police are searching for a man who robbed an armored truck guard on Wednesday afternoon outside a bank in Green Hills.
It happened around 12:40 p.m. Wednesday in the parking lot of First Tennessee Bank on Abbott Martin Road.
Officials said that a man robbed the Loomis armored truck by attacking the guard delivering money to the bank.
Police said the truck guard was pushing a dolly to the front door of the bank. It was loaded with a heavy bag of money. When the guard got to the front door the robber pepper sprayed him in the face, grabbed the bag and ran.
Witnesses saw the robber run to a covered parking area at the nearby Kroger where he drove off in a small silver sedan with Toyota markings and a temporary tag.
According to officials, the robber was a heavy set white male who is about 6'2" and weighing about 250 pounds. He was wearing a red shirt at the time of the robbery, but changed into a white shirt as he left in his car. He was also wearing a light colored ball cap.
It appears he may have been wearing a clear mask to cover his face.
