Trial Begins For Father Accused Of Trying To Kill Infant

MURFREESBORO, Tenn.- The trial of a man accused of trying to kill an infant outside a local hospital got underway in Murfreesboro, with testimony from the infant's mother.

Glenn Climer was accused of trying to break a one year old's neck outside the Middle Tennessee Medical Center. His ex-girlfriend, who's pregnant now with a second child, testified against him in court Wednesday.

According to the Daily News Journal, Tiffany Carpenter said they were arguing over who was the father of the baby the night of November 28, 2011. She says that Climer believed his brother to be the father, which she denies.

Earlier this year when interviewed by NewsChannel5 Climer denied the charges.

"It's the most humiliating thing I've experienced in my life. Being exploited on the news like I'm some kind of monster who would hurt my infant child," said Climer.

Police said there were numerous drugs in his system that night. Despite the crime he's accused of, Carpenter reportedly said on the stand today that she still loved him. The trial was scheduled to continue Thursday.
