Amber Alert Canceled For 15-Year-Old Cookeville Girl

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. - A 15-year-old girl from Cookeville at the center of an Amber Alert overnight was found safe.

Cookeville police said Kristen Alcorn was found lying along the roadway along the side of the road about one mile from her home around 3:30 a.m. Thursday. A motorist had spotted her and called police.

She was conscious and had no obvious signs of injury, but she was taken to Cookeville Regional Medical Center to be checked out.

Police responded to the girl's home in south Cookeville around 8:50 p.m. Wednesday when her parents came home to find her missing. Her younger brother was at the home and did not know his sister was gone.

An Amber Alert was issued early Thursday morning by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, but canceled when she was found safe.

Detectives told NewsChannel 5 a note found was initially believed to be a ransom note, but was later found that was not the case. They also said there were other things that made them believe she may have been taken under suspicious circumstances.

Detectives were talking to Alcorn at the hospital to try to sort out the details of what happened. Police continue to investigate.
