Photo Credit: WVLTKNOXVILLE, Tenn. - Knox County Sheriff's Office detectives are investigating the death of a University of Tennessee student who apparently drowned in a bathtub at her off-campus apartment.
The Knoxville News Sentinel reported Sydney Sloan's roommate found her unconscious in the bathtub early Wednesday afternoon. Sheriff's Lt. Mark Webber said an autopsy was being performed. A toxicology screening has been requested to determine whether Sloan was under the influence of any substances.
Sloan was a 22-year-old senior studying audiology at the University of Tennessee. She graduated from Ravenwood High School in Brentwood.
One of her roommates went to check on her because water continued to leak from the upstairs bathroom and found her dead.
A candlelight vigil will be held for Sloan on Friday night at Circle Park on the UT campus.
