NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A garbage truck driver was taken to the hospital after the brakes on his truck went out, causing the truck to crash into a home in Bellevue on Thursday afternoon.
It happened around 1 p.m. on Cavalier Road. The fire department said the truck lost its brakes coming down the hill. Both the driver and the man on the back of the truck jumped off.
The truck kept going, hit a parked car in front of the home, and then hit the house.
The homeowner was not home at the time of the crash, but several of his friends were inside the home. No one inside was injured.
Neighbors were stunned by the crash.
"Honestly, everyone's been walking around in kind of a sense of aw. I guess you dont see a dump truck drive through a house everyday," said neighbor Josh Hess.
The garbage truck driver was taken to the hospital. His condition was unknown.
This isn't the first time this house has been hit by a vehicle. Friends and neighbors said the entire right side of the home was rebuilt a few years ago, after an accident eerily similar to this one.
