Four Fatal Motorcycle Wrecks Since Sunday

Posted: Updated:

NASHVILLE, Tenn.- It's a sight that is becoming common on Nashville roads, motorcycle accidents that result in deaths. The latest happened on Old Hickory Boulevard in Bellevue Thursday afternoon.

Thursday's afternoon crash marked the 4th fatal accident since Sunday and the second of the day. It's a scene that is troubling to both police and motorcyclists.

Kathy Boyer was unsettled when she spotted the latest fatal motorcycle accident in Metro Nashville.

It's one of those things every day. These fatalities happening, you start to realize it could happen to you any day," she said.

Metro Police said the driver in the Bellevue crash attempted to move around slow moving traffic on Old Hickory Boulevard and collided head on with a pickup truck. Officers said that they urge motorist and cyclists to be as cautious as possible on roadways.

Longtime Motorcycle safety instructor Ray Ashworth agrees. He says the fault often lies with both the drivers and motorcyclists and both need to share the road, and stay alert at all times.

"Anytime, in any situation, you need think of the worst thing to happen and think "if I prepare for the worst I will be ok'" said Ashworth

Advice Kathy remembers each time she hits the road.

"It's scary to think any day you go out for a beautiful ride, it might be your last," said Boyer.
