MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (AP) - A Murfreesboro father has been found guilty of attempted voluntary manslaughter of his 1-year-old son.
The Daily News Journal reported that Glenn "Bubba" Climer, Jr. twisted his son's head in a threatening manner when confronted by police about a bruise around the child's left eye.
The confrontation took place outside Middle Tennessee Medical Center's emergency room on November 28.
Climer's attorneys argued that he never hurt the child or intended to hurt him. Climer did not testify at trial.
He faced a charge of attempted second-degree murder. Jurors on Thursday found him guilty of the lesser charge of attempted manslaughter as well as charges of child abuse, assault and resisting arrest.
Climer faces between 8 to 20 years in prison.
