NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Tennessee tourism and transportation officials have launched the state's 14th driving tour under the Discover Tennessee Trails & Byways Program.
The Rocky Top Trail was unveiled Tuesday in Gatlinburg.
The 282-mile route runs through seven counties in the Smoky Mountains region and is designed to show off the history, culture, landscape, music and cuisine of the area. It begins at the Gatlinburg/Great Smoky Mountains National Park Welcome Center. Visitors can pick up maps, coupons and brochures there.
Tourism Commissioner Susan Whitaker said the trail is intended to get visitors off the main traffic arteries and let them explore the "hidden gems." Whitaker said officials want more visitors staying longer and spending more in Tennessee.
