Mayor’s Son Charged For Crashing Through Cemetery

HOHENWALD, Tenn.- Parker Clayton, son of the mayor of Hohenwald, has been charged after driving drunk and crashing into a cemetery.

A Tennessee Highway Patrol report showed that around 11 p.m. Saturday, 20-year-old Clayton lost control of his vehicle on Highway 48, and crashed into the Downey Cemetery. Ten tombstones were shattered.

Officials with THP said on Tuesday, Clayton was charged with DUI, underage possession of alcohol, open container, seat belt violation, no insurance, and failure to exercise due care.

Clayton was booked into the Lewis County Jail on the charges. A court date was not set.
