MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Police are searching for the gunmen involved in a home invasion in Rutherford County.
It happened at a duplex at 1303 Old Lascassas Pike Tuesday afternoon.
Michael Harris had a feeling two strange men walking up to his family's home didn't seem right.
"The black gentleman opened my door and hit me in the jaw and then the white guy come out with the gun," Harris said.
The men had already come by roughly 20 minutes earlier asking where they could find drugs and about the duplex's neighboring unit, according to Harris. This time they had the 28-year-old, his nine-year-old son, sister, Mary, and mother, Susan, all at gunpoint.
"I said wait a minute and then the white dude came in with the gun and he said no you shut up," Susan Harris described when she realized the men had forced their way into her home.
They were told to strip down to their underwear before being tied-up with tape.
"Then they taped my son, they taped my grandson and then they asked me if I had any money and I told them no," she said.
"There's no reason for anybody to go through that," Harris went on to say. "That is a scary feeling. To look up and see a barrel of a gun right between your eyes."
They were all given strict instructions if they moved, they were dead. "They looked at my son and told my son if he moved that they would shoot me," he said.
They men took cell phones, a wallet and prescription drugs before destroying their neighbor's home.
During that burglary one man repeatedly ran to a living room window to make sure the family didn't move.
Mary Harris, who has disabilities, was never tied up and used a knife to cut her family free before police arrived.
Police are looking for a white and black man. The Harris' say the white man has very distinctive tattoos on his face, including the word "gutta".
Police said this is the latest in a rash of home and car burglaries in the Lascassas area. The thieves have taken prescription medications and electronics.
