Franklin Police Honor Fallen Officers

Posted: Updated:

FRANKLIN, Tenn.- Most people don't wonder if they'll make it back home when they go to work but most haven't dedicated their lives to protecting and serving others.

On Thursday, Williamson County paid tribute to the six officers who've died in line of duty since 1919. They also recognized a fallen Providence Rhode Island officer, whose family lives in the area.

Organizers said its important families and the police force see their sacrifices are appreciated.

"They see the support they get from the community... And it's important to have that support in your local law enforcement," said Officer John Maxwell with the Fraternal Order of Police, Lodge 41.

The service was held at the Franklin Theatre on Main Street. A 21-gun salute and taps was followed by a foot procession and concluding ceremony.
